Hands up all those who have ever hit a fitness plateau? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there before, and know how frustrating it is when your go-to health and fitness routine stops garnering the same results that it used to. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back (and your butt) and have put together some of our top tips and tricks that will help propel you out of plateau, and into peak results!

1 Shop for new activewear

Have you heard the phrase “dress for success” before? It applies to the world of fitness as well.
Research shows that a new pair of sneakers, yoga pants or a colorful tank can give your brain a real boost.
You experience something the experts are calling “ enclothed cognition,” which refers to a sort of mental shift you experience when you wear certain clothes. One study in the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology suggests that clothing influences behavior because it carries a symbolic meaning. So, what you wear is actually subconsciously changing how you act.
When you put on new fitness gear, you begin to get into character like an actor putting on a costume for a performance. As a result, you expect to have higher motivation and better performance.

2. Add weight training

Many HYPOXI clients consider themselves not gym people. We hear ‘I hate cardio!” in our studios all the time. However, if weight training has never been on your radar, it’s worth considering on the days you are not doing HYPOXI sessions.

Even 20 minutes of strength training can boost your metabolism so you burn more calories throughout the day. Your body will work harder to maintain muscle over fat.

3. “Would you train with me?”

It’s hard to get motivated to work out regularly especially when It’s getting cold outside, and being a couch potato is oh-so-tempting. Even if you’re one of those rare super-humans who choose exercise over Netflix at all times, you could also see some benefits from getting a HYPOXI buddy.

Recent studies have found people who worked out with someone else, did it up to 200% longer than people who worked out by themselves.

In addition, who doesn’t enjoy a little friendly competition? Depending on your routine, find fun ways to inject a spirit of competition into your workout. HYPOXI clients get measured every two weeks so you can compare results and encourage each other to keep up with three sessions a week for best results.

4. Put it in your calendar!

Treat your workouts as though they are business meetings. How many times did you say to yourself “tomorrow, I will make time to exercise for an hour” and it never happened? Understand one simple thing – You Don’t Find Time. You Make It. You’re less likely to skip workouts if it’s on your calendar.

Trying to find the time to work out is always difficult so, next time you’re looking for that extra hour in your day to exercise just call our studio, book your sessions for next week and put it your calendar as non-negotiable ‘meetings’.
