Avacado with a twist

Posted on September 22, 2018 in healthy eating, recipes

Here at HYPOXI we love and enjoy Japanese food, however, when it comes to losing a few KGs, high-carb sushi and udons are best eaten occasionally. We decided to bring Japanese flavor to the good old avocados.

Avocados are naturally rich in healthy fats, which contribute to better levels of HDL, or “good cholesterol” in your body. They also offer your body antioxidants to help protect against illness and boost your immune system. But it’s not enough to make avocados a regular part of your diet, this fruit is extremely low carb which means you can enjoy it after your HYPOXI session.

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe Avocado
  • Wild Dulse flakes or
  • Shredded seaweed
  • Sesame seeds (toasted)
  • Lemon juice
  • Sea Salt (to taste)
  • Toast of your choice (on days off HYPOXI)
  • Chili flakes (optional)

Sea vegetables are the oldest plant family on Earth, they have more vitamins and minerals than any other plant. Sea vegetables are also a good source of B-vitamins, which help regulate your mood.

Seaweed like kelp and dulse have a surplus of iodine, a hard-to-find element necessary for healthy brain function. Seaweed is also rich in vitamin A, which helps keep your skin clear.

Preparation

Step 1: Give an avocado a gentle roll around your counter to help separate the meat from the shell before you slice.
Step 2: Peel and de-pit a ripe avocado
Step 3: Cut “meat” out and mash with a fork
Step 4: Toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until lightly browned, stirring occasionally.
Step 5: Sprinkle with Wild Dulse flakes, toasted sesame seeds and Chili flakes.
